Welcome to the Government Affairs division of the Chamber! The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce (LCRCC) advocates for a thriving private sector economy for the benefit of our members and community through education, advocacy and programs. The Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation (GBIC) works to attract, retain, and expand environmentally sensitive high-paying jobs, ensuring future generations of Vermonters will continue to live, learn, work and play in the Champlain Valley.
The Government Affairs Division advocates on behalf of both organizations, representing our members in a non-partisan manner on policy issues affecting business at the local, regional, state and federal levels of government. Please explore the legislative issues section to learn more about what concerns our member businesses.
Why Get Involved?
Vermonters have unparalleled access to their elected officials. We are lucky to live in a state where it’s not unusual to bump into the Governor having coffee on Main Street or a State Senator having lunch at the diner next door! Additionally, citizens have incredible access to the legislative process at the statehouse. It’s important for our members to use that access to meet our common goal: making Vermont a better place to work and do business. Your input is strongly considered by legislators and we make it easy for you to get involved. Additionally, your efforts are often recognized in our publications and news media, providing free exposure for your business. Health care reform, energy rates, tax policy, employment laws and permitting issues all affect your bottom line. We advocate on behalf of our member businesses, however we need your help to have the most impact.
