I have worked for the Chamber for 10 years, I am a native Vermonter, and much of my heritage is from Canada. This past weekend my competition dance team was doing a donation-only baked goods fundraiser at the Williston North & South Welcome Centers.
We met many amazing people from all parts of Vermont, the US and other countries. I really listened to, and focused on, our Canadian neighbors as they passed through, based on some recent news. Here is what I experienced: They were just amazingly friendly, conversational, and very generous in their donations to the team. Although we expected nothing for our goods, we found out quickly our neighbors to the North were very generous and happy to “TIP” our team. We got dollars, loonies, & wads of cash.
For whatever reason, they seemed to be some of the most generous people who passed through the Welcome Centers this past weekend. Our team was very grateful for the support we received from everyone. Merci!
