Workforce Investment Board
The
Lake Champlain Region is characterized by vibrant economic development and high
quality of life, supported by a collaborative network of world-class, knowledge-based
employees, responsive and proactive educational providers, and employers who
are invested in workforce development.
The Lake Champlain Workforce Investment Board (LCWIB) is a force for making
a difference in our region's economic future. An ongoing challenge in our community
as well as others across the country is the disconnect between the workforce
we must have- to ensure good employment opportunities and an economy that is
sound, diverse, and competitive- and the workforce we have in place. The LCWIB
is a volunteer regional organization which links the business and education
community to bridge the gap between the workforce of today and the one we need
tomorrow.
The LCWIB provides leadership and support for a workforce development system that involves collaboration of three partners: employers, educators and employees. This system will be customer driven, outcome-oriented, accountable to investors and the public and continually improving. We are employers, students and educators. We represent local small, medium and large businesses, youth education, labor unions, public agencies like the Vermont Department of Labor, Vermont Division of Children & Families, community based organizations like Vermont Adult Learning and Northern New England Tradeswomen, Inc., the regional development organization, Chamber of Commerce and more.
