  Not a #TBT, Travel Website Vermont.org Officially Goes Mobile

The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that their website, Vermont.org, which serves more than a million visitors each year, has officially gone mobile.

"While the World Wide Web jumped on the mobile bandwidth-wagon a few years ago, here in Vermont, we wanted to make sure it wasn't a fad,” said Chamber President Tom Torti clutching his Blackberry. "And we're pretty confident the best apps are still made of Vermont maple or cheddar."

In all seriousness, Vermont.org is proud to announce new features and resources for today's traveler. Increasingly, travelers turn to their mobile devices to plan their stay in Vermont.

HackVT: Hack The Climate Results

With the help of our community partners, HackVT: Hack the Climate was a big success! We gave away over $15,00 in cash and prizes, hosted the first high school team at the annual hackathon, and inspired the creation of some excellent apps. To find out more about the winners, click here.

 

Jennifer Williams to Broaden Lake Champlain Regional Chamber’s Tourism Communications

The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce (LCRCC), the state’s largest business organization, has secured Jennifer Williams to work with the Chamber’s marketing and public affairs team. “Expanding awareness and interaction by fostering inclusiveness for locals and travelers is key to our communications efforts. We plan to reinforce the state’s reputation as a travel destination with consistent messaging of Vermont as a thriving place to live, work and play,” said Catherine Z. Davis, the Chamber’s vice president of public affairs. “With Jen’s experience working within State tourism and marketing, the ski industry and the Vermont Arts Council, we are well positioned to highlight the variety and character of our Vermont communities.”

Chamber Reprises “Take a Seat in the Islands” – A Community Art Project

Where can you view 17 hardwood benches painted by professional artists? In the Champlain Islands! The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce presents the third annual “Take a Seat in the Islands”, a community art project on display throughout the Islands from June 15 to August 15. Sponsored by the Lake Champlain Islands Economic Development Corporation, Vermont Title and Examination Closing Services and Morway’s Moving and Storage, Take a Seat in the Islands features benches handcrafted by Nick Durso of NA Durso Woodworking in North Hero, Vermont. LaunchVT Final Competition

LaunchVT’s six finalists have gone through several months of preparation for their final pitch to a panel of three expert judges. Katie Rae, Managing Director of TechStars Boston & Project 11; Nicole State, Founder & Managing Director of Boston Seed and Lee Bouyea, Managing Director of FreshTracks Capital will select one finalist who will be awarded a $20,000 cash prize and receive more than $40,000 of in-kind support. The event will be hosted by Alan Newman, Co-Founder of Magic Hat, Alchemy & Science & Seventh Generation with remarks from Chamber President Tom Torti and Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Lawrence Miller.
