Staff Spotlight: Cathy Davis, Executive Vice President

 

Cathy heads the Chamber’s legislative advocacy, visitor services, workforce development and entrepreneurship teams. A member of the Chamber’s executive team, she works to ensure that the Chamber remains a strong voice for our business community that delivers results for its members. Prior to joining the Chamber, Cathy worked for former US Senator James M. Jeffords, running his Burlington district office and representing him on immigration and international affairs issues. Cathy serves on the boards of Green Up Vermont and Hunger Free Vermont. She is married with two children and resides in Jericho.

What three traits define you?
Direct, pragmatic and strong-willed.

What is your personal philosophy?
You set your own destiny, so choose to be happy and the rest will follow.

What is one thing you could not live without?
Sunshine!   

What is the one thing you cannot resist?

Where is your favorite place to be?
Home

What is your favorite thing to do?
I am happiest reading a good book near a body of water on a warm, summer day.

Where is the best place you have traveled to and why?
I loved Prince Edward Island. It is beautiful, the people are friendly and the ocean water is warm.

What is the weirdest job you have ever had?
I have not had any truly weird jobs but I was a professional grocery shopper one summer during college.

What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?
The ability to treat HIV/AIDS and extend people’s lives.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
The first thing that came to mind was a fighter pilot.

How do you define success?
Knowing I gave it my all, regardless of the outcome.

What is the best book you have ever read?
I can’t possibly narrow it down to just one.
