The Chamber of Commerce

How to Get Involved and Make a Difference

Learn more about issues of interest to you

Contact your legislators to convey your position

During the legislative session, there are a number of ways to contact your legislators.

  • Send an e-mail message Chittenden County Legislators
  • Phone the legislator at home in the evenings (but not too late at night).
  • Call the Statehouse Sergeant-at-Arms office (800-322-5616 or 802-828-2228) and leave a very brief message or ask the legislator to call you.
  • Fax a letter to the legislator at the Statehouse (802-828-2424).

When writing letters or sending e-mail messages, be sure to include your address. Legislators like to know where you live or where your business is located. (They pay particular attention to people who are their constituents.) Also include your phone number in case the legislator would like to respond with a phone call.

Keep us informed of your interest in particular issues
Let us know of your concerns and interests. The Chamber’s legislative team can alert you to developments at the Statehouse. We often ask members to testify before a legislative committee on issues that could impact their business.

Contact Dawn Francis or Cathy Davis.

And as always, make sure you vote in elections. Or, if you don't like the candidates, consider running for office yourself!
