International Academic Short Term Programs in Vermont
Intensive English Program:
The Intensive English Program is for students aged 17 years or older who are interested in learning or improving their English language skills.
The program offers different levels, from low-intermediate to advanced study. Occasionally, depending on the IEP census, classes with two different proficiency levels may be combined. Individual student level objectives are always accommodated. A placement test is given during the first class to determine which level is appropriate for the student. TOEFL scores are not required to enter the program. TOEFL tests are administered twice during a semester.
Students receive a certificate of completion for their work during the program. Students who complete 16 or more weeks of study may qualify for six credits toward a Saint Michael's College undergraduate degree program.
Academic English Program:
For over 30 years the Academic English Program (AEP) has succesfully prepared international students for academic careers at Saint Michael's or other undergraduate or graduate schools in the United States.
The AEP is a two-semester program. It provides language and academic skills preparation for international students with high-intermediate to advanced language proficiency.
The AEP has two levels of study depending on the students' needs and abilities. Students in both Levels I and II receive college credit for the AEP that can be applied to the Saint Michael's College undergraduate program. Transfer of credit to other institutions is dependent on the receiving institution.
