Winterfest - Bennington, Jan. 16
The highlight of this winterfest is the ice sculpture contest at the North Bennington Train Depot. There’s also a penguin plunge for the brave and hardy.

Stowe Winter Carnival - Stowe, Jan. 16-30
More than twenty activities for all ages, from zany sports events to ice carving competitions. Don’t miss the ski movies, kids’ carnival, broomball tourney and beer garden.

Wintervale - Burlington, Jan. 17
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, plus music, local hot food and drinks, and activities for the little ones. Skis and snowshoes will be available for free.

Winterfest - Shelburne Farms, Jan. 23
Sledding, sleigh rides, crafts, music and food. An indoor/outdoor family-friendly event.

Waterbury Winterfest - Waterbury, Jan. 29-Feb. 7
Sponsored by Waterbury Parks and Recreation. Past years have included snow volleyball, snow art, midnight snowshoeing, sledding, snowball contest, craft beer sampling, chess tournament, poetry, and wassailing.

Heritage Winterfest - Jeffersonville, Jan. 30
Jeffersonville celebrates winter with a 5K cross-country ski ramble, story hour, Pie for Breakfast, lasagna dinner, sledding, bonfire, balloon glow, fireworks, primitive biathlon and more.

Ice on Fire Winter Festival - Montpelier, Jan. 31
Local performers offer theater, dance, storytelling, poetry and music. Activities for children and adults.

Great Ice - North Hero, Feb. 5
Celebrating everything ice: public skating, bonfire, sled dog rides, kids’ ice fishing derby, ice bike racing, extreme Frisbee and more.

Winter Lights - Burlington, Feb. 5-7
New installations will light up Church Street, while families enjoy discounts, a health and wellness expo, ice sculpture gardens and demos, ice games, a penguin plunge and more.

Snowshoe Festival - Cambridge, Feb. 7
An exciting day of treks, walks, and races on snowshoes.

Vermont Flurry: Snow Sculpture Festival - Woodstock, Feb. 12
Professional snow sculptors transform the Woodstock Village Green into a celebration of winter.

Brattleboro Winter Carnival - Brattleboro, Feb. 12-21
Snowmobile rides, skating, skiing, sugar-on-snow, sleigh rides, pancake breakfast, chili cookoff and more at this 60th annual event.

Essex Winter Carnival and Chili Cookoff - Essex, Feb. 27
Music, performances, winter activities, and a chili cook-off warm up this February day.

Ben & Jerry’s Winter Festival - Waterbury, Feb. 27
A family-friendly event celebrating ice cream. Previous years have included flavor samples, free factory tours, outdoor games, sugar-on-snow, snow sculptures, and gift shop discounts.

Magic Hat Mardi Gras Weekend - Burlington, March 4-6
A three-day celebration is capped off by a magnificent parade through downtown Burlington. Grab a moon pie and some beads.

Vermont Open Snowboard & Music Fest - Stratton, March 13
Snowboarders of all ages can compete in Vermont’s only Open competition, with retro pipe, slopestyle and rail jam.

Vermont Chili Festival - Middlebury, March 12
The 8th annual chili festival promises to be the best ever. Thousands of hardy souls taste their way through the closed-off streets of Middlebury.

Green Mountain Film Festival - Montpelier, March 18-27
