Chittenden County Long-Term Strategic Economic Development Plan
In 2004, the Chittenden
County Long-Term Strategic
Economic Development Plan was
completed by GBIC and its
partners. This document is
available for download here (you

This document was
prepared for GBIC, the Town of Essex, the Lake
Champlain Workforce Investment
Board, Lake Champlain Regional
Chamber of Commerce, and the
Chittenden County Regional
Planning Commission. It
was made possible by funding
from the Vermont Department of
Economic Development and Vermont
Community Development Block
Grant Program.
Chittenden County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)
Late in 2004, GBIC was invited by the Economic Development Administration
to submit a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, or CEDS. This
living strategy document was created with input from 100s of volunteers and
community members and is updated annually.
The CEDS includes 100s
of projects promoting economic
and community development in Chittenden County. Since its completion in 2005, over $40,000,000 of
investment has been tracked in Chittenden County Additionally, a successful EDA Grant Application
was filed by the Town of Milton
in 2006 for $2,000,000.
