GBIC
GBIC is a non-profit economic
development corporation primarily supported by Chittenden County businesses
and municipalities. GBIC is affiliated with the State of Vermont as the certified
Regional Development Corporation (RDC) serving Chittenden County. GBIC was
one of the first RDCs incorporated in Vermont. Vermont now has twelve RDCs
working across the state to promote economic opportunities.
In addition to serving as the region’s provider of economic development
services and resources, beginning in the summer of 2007 GBIC and the LCRCC
undertook a process for the development of a strategy focused on expanding
the economic opportunities for Vermonters in environmental enterprises and
“the green economy.” Click

Mission: To attract, retain, and expand environmentally sensitive high-paying
jobs in the Champlain Valley. GBIC is committed to promoting a thriving Lake
Champlain region driven by an economic environment which provides meaningful
employment consistent with an uncompromised natural environment, and enables
present and future generations of Vermonters to live, learn, work, and play
in the Champlain Valley.

of GBIC. Its mission is to unify
and coordinate public and
private efforts directed toward
the attraction, encouragement,
financing and development of
private industry and commerce
within the Greater Burlington
Area and other municipalities of Chittenden County for the purpose of promoting,
increasing and stabilizing
opportunities for gainful
employment, improvement of
economic conditions and general
welfare. Cynosure has its own
board of directors.
