The New England Federal Credit Union Giant Pumpkin Regatta & Festival is hosted annually by LLL, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Vermont Giant Vegetable Grower's Association to help raise funds for LLL's youth leadership program, PILOT.
So what happens? Different teams of people (pumpkin sponsors, local celebrities, media personalities, PILOT students, etc.) race in giant hollowed out pumpkins (1,000lbs. +) on Lake Champlain. There is also a fun-filled family festival that includes local food vendors providing yummy fall treats, craft vendors, kids' activities, pie eating contests, and a fall inspired pet costume contest!

Past Pumpkin Regattas have intrigued many people and the event has received press nationally, as well as regionally and locally. The event has been spoofed on Saturday Night Live, has made Sports Illustrated’s Craziest Competitions list and been shown on ESPN 360. Click here for a list of media coverage and videos.
