October 9, 2011 – Burlington, VT - Whether you are running by Burlington’s waterfront, visiting to photograph beautiful fall foliage, or simply watching the news – you can't miss the 4th Annual Giant Pumpkin Regatta & Festival.
Different teams of racers (pumpkin sponsors, local celebrities, media personalities, PILOT students, etc.) paddle giant hollowed out pumpkins (1,000lbs.+) boats on Lake Champlain to compete for the Giant Pumpkin Trophy. There is also a fun-filled family festival that includes local food vendors providing yummy fall treats, craft vendors, kids' activities, pie eating contests, and a fall inspired pet costume contest!
We will be supporting the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf at this event, too! Please bring non-perishable food items and help a fellow neighbor in need.

Past Pumpkin Regattas have intrigued many people and the event has received press nationally, as well as regionally and locally. The event has been spoofed on Saturday Night Live, has made Sports Illustrated’s Craziest Competitions list and been shown on ESPN 360. Click here for a list of media coverage and videos.
This event is hosted annually by the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and Linking Learning to Life to raise funds for their youth leadership program, PILOT.
Tentative Schedule:
10 am: Festival Begins!.....Join us for pumpkin decorating & painting, cookie & cupcake decorating, fun kids’ activities, bounce castles, face painting, yummy fall food and craft vendors, and MORE!
11:30 am: ............Pie Eating Contest
Register by 11:00 at the information table under the tent.
12 pm: ...............First Pumpkin Regatta Race
Races will continue into the afternoon until we have our official winner!
2 pm:...............Pet Costume Contest
Register your pet by 1:30pm at the information table under the tent. Prizes awarded to one finalist from
each category based on judges’ choice.
