The 2nd Annual Great Pumpkin Regatta!
The 2nd Annual Giant Pumpkin Regatta and Festival, sponsored
by The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and Linking Learning to
Life, will take place on beautiful Lake Champlain on Sunday, October 11. The
Regatta features local business leaders, students, and others racing in giant
hollowed-out gourds, in a competition of size and speed. This year’s
event will feature a Pumpkin Festival with food vendors, activities and entertainment
located on the Burlington Waterfront.
PILOT your own pumpkin! Act now as there are a limited number of sponsorships
available. A $1000 sponsorship provides:
• Participation in at least one pumpkin race with your business flag
and decorations
• Your business’ name on event promotional materials
• Your business name listed on the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of
Commerce and Linking Learning to Life’s websites
• Your business named in paid media spots
• Your business listed on the event waterfront display
While it sounds both impossible and crazy, it is
indeed a boat race, but the boats are giant carved pumpkins, which are decorated
and placed into the lake with forklifts, and raced as if they were kayaks. Last
year’s event was featured on MSNBC and spoofed on Saturday Night Live!
The Giant Pumpkin Regatta & Festival is a benefit
for PILOT (Program to Inspire Leadership, Opportunity, and Thought) , a youth
leadership program for area high school students run by Linking Learning to
Life and the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce. For details contact
