People have celebrated the sun for as long as there have been people – and one of the most important days of the year for those who appreciate that life-giving ball of fire is the Summer Solstice: the longest day of the year. For the Northern Hemisphere, that day is June 21. So if you’re feeling an overwhelming urge to celebrate this weekend and you’re not sure why, it’s probably your innate ancestral memory feeling the burn of centuries of ritualistic tradition.
