LCRCC Names Burton 2017 Business of the Year

The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 107th Annual Dinner on Thursday, October 19. Governor Phil Scott, Congressman Peter Welch and Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger delivered remarks to the sold-out 450 person crowd.

The Chamber presented its annual Business of the Year Award to Burton. The award recognizes a business that contributes to our economic vitality and engages in community service and philanthropy. Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards out of a Vermont barn back in 1977. Burton served a pivotal role in growing snowboarding from a backyard hobby to a world-class sport while creating local jobs from their world headquarters in Burlington. The Chill Foundation, founded by Jake and Donna Carpenter, has helped more than 20,000 kids learn to enjoy the outdoors while building life skills, and Burton regularly contributes to local community organizations while striving to be an employer of choice.

Burton has been a member of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce since 1992.

The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce is the largest business advocacy organization in the state. The Chamber puts everything into place to help our members grow their businesses: providing innovative member services and programs, promoting our region and making it an even better place to do business.
