VCWA Speaker Series 2020: Climate Change and a New Era of Geopolitics in the Arctic

acundá National Forest, Rondonia State, Brazil - 27 August, 2019: An ongoing free in the region of Vila Nova Samuel near the Jacundá National Forest in the Brazil’s Amazon. A team from the Brazilian army, the firefighters and the IBAMA, Brazil´s environmental agency,, launched joint operation on Saturday August 24th to control the destructive fires on this region, The Jacundá National Forest is in the Amazonia biome and covers 221,218 hectares (546,640 acres). It´Its located 60 milles East to Porto Velho.

Join the VCWA and special guest Rebecca Pincus, Assistant Professor in the Strategic and Operational Research Department in the Center for Naval Warfare Studies at the US Naval War College and a member of the Institute for Future Warfare Studies, as she discusses how climate change will impact geopolitics in regions like the Arctic and others and how nations around the world are working to address these impacts.
