LCRCC Presents: Sizzlin’ Summer Silent Auction & Raffle Recap

Over 180 Chamber members helped us spring into summer at the DoubleTree by Hilton last Thursday, March 14th at this year’s LCRCC silent auction and raffle.  Attendees weaved their way through DoubleTree’s stunning atrium as they admired over 100 items for auction, each one generously donated by a local business or artisan.  Proceeds from this annual event benefit LCRCC’s workforce programs like LaunchVT and TIPS.

Auction guests divided their time between scribbling their bids on desired items and carefully selecting the raffle items on which they were willing to gamble their tickets.  At $5 for five tickets or $20 for an arms-length, raffle participants were distributing their tickets with a joyous fervor.

Between competitive bidding wars and rapid-fire raffle ticket purchases, guests enjoyed delicious St. Patty’s Day-themed fare. Corned beef sliders, mini shepherd’s pies, and a mashed potato bar delighted the crowd.  An assortment of beautiful, decadent sweets adorned the atrium as well, for those of us less interested in treats of the savory variety.

As the night came to a close, raffle tickets were pulled, and each series of numbers announced were quickly followed by celebratory exclamations and the usual “oohs and ahhs” of a crowd feeling the secondhand excitement of each item winner.  Once each raffle item winner gleefully had their items in-hand, the real show began.  The names of each auction item winner were projected onto a large screen one at a time, each name followed by that same cacophony of excitement that accompanied the raffle winner announcements.

While some had a larger load to carry out to their cars than others, the DoubleTree made sure no guest went home empty handed.  As they shuffled towards the doors, attendees were gifted a famous DoubleTree cookie and a potted four-leaf clover, each departing with a little sweetness and a bit of luck.  Thank you to all of you who came out to spend this special night with us.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
