Program Spotlight: Visitor Services

Millions of tourists flock to Vermont every year, and at the LCRCC we work to ensure those tourists consider the scenic diversity, rich culture, and close proximity to the state’s outdoor natural and recreational treasures of the Lake Champlain region.  We understand that in order to have a vibrant private sector economy, we need to support our tourism-driven member businesses and their hard work keeping the Lake Champlain region on the map as a premier destination.  LCRCC tells the story of our region through our website, vermont.org, and through our complimentary in person concierge services at our six Welcome Centers throughout the state.  LCRCC members have both free and paid promotional opportunities available to them through both our website and our Welcome Centers.  We work hard to drive tourism dollars directly to our member businesses as part of our mission to support a thriving private sector economy.

Every chamber focuses in one way or another on tourism, but what makes LCRCC different is that we strive to not just promote our members but tell their story.  Why just provide a list of local dining, tours and things to do, when we can create thoughtful itineraries for our guests?

With the relaunch of vermont.org, we are telling the story of our region and ensuring that tourists have a clear plan for their vacation depending on their interests. Whether looking to bring the dog on vacation, struggling to find activities to do with the kids on a rainy day, or trying to create a winter getaway that pleases both skiers and non-skiers in the group, vermont.org’s experience pages have the answers. The experience pages are creative, seo-driven content, featuring only member businesses that provide tourists a much better understanding of what our region has to offer.

From developing stories through vermont.org to speaking directly with tourists coming into our state at the welcome centers, we work to understand what brings people here so that we can provide a meaningful experience that includes our 300-plus tourism member businesses.

A win for tourism, is a win for all of us. We focus on tourism because the money it brings into our region allows us to continue to invest in the things that matter most like infrastructure and education. Supporting our tourism member businesses not only ensures their success but strengthens our private sector economy in more ways than one, and that is a mission we can all get behind.
