Member Spotlight: Duke’s Public House

Trader Duke’s in South Burlington has served and welcomed many patrons over the decades. Countless stories have been shared and memories made aside the warm fireplace and cozy bar. After much time and consideration, the owners, Rich Burlington LLC,  decided it was time for their well-loved restaurant be reinvented and reborn.

The restaurant closed its doors in July to make way for a totally new floor design and aesthetic updates. As travelers passed through South Burlington this year it was clear that Trader Duke’s was undergoing a total exterior and interior transformation. Now called Duke’s Public House, the new name pays homage to the traditional 19th century gathering place where people would go to seek food, shelter, and connection.

Duke’s Public House is located adjacent to Trader Duke’s Hotel which is affiliated with Marriott International, Inc. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Marriott International, Inc. boasts a portfolio of more than 6,500 properties in 30 leading hotel brands spanning 127 countries and territories. This hotel will soon be announcing their new full-service brand in early 2019.

A brand new Porte Cache greets visitors upon entry to the hotel property. The new lobby beckons guests with a fresh, modern new look accompanied with a few rustic touches. Duke’s Public House welcomes visitors with its sleek, contemporary design that invokes “big city” vibes yet maintains the cozy feel of a Vermont hotel. The modern décor includes a vibrant bar scene serving up 10 taps, seasonal microbrews and an elaborate wine list. The built-in fireplace is nestled by a pristine community table and serves as the focal point of the room, surrounded by tables of varying sizes and types. Guests may enjoy sitting at a high-top in the lounge area or in the private dining area at a table or booth. Of course, power connectivity is abundant – Trader Duke’s will never leave you without a charge. A brand new outdoor patio addition is highlighted by a high-top fire pit for customers to enjoy during all four seasons.

Duke’s Public House is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests will enjoy the casual fine dining experience introducing fresh local and healthy food choices that emulate flavors of traditional favorites with a diversified presentation. Duke’s Public House continues to maintain its essense of being the most comfortable place to enjoy a great meal with good friends. It’s easy to find and parking is free.
