December 3 @ 6:00 pm
Definition: /giving/ + /Tuesday/ (n): Both a movement and a day held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, dedicated to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Giving Tuesday started a day for anyone to give and has been transformed into the biggest giving movement in the world. This year we are merging our Giving Tuesday event with our Annual Winter Speaker event. With that in mind, we are so excited to welcome Elizabeth Shackelford as the speaker for our Giving Tuesday event. Elizabeth resigned from her position as a foreign service officer in December 2017 and recently moved to Vermont. She is currently working on a book on U.S. foreign policy failings, as described through the lens of her experience in South Sudan during the outbreak of civil war. Please join us for meaningful conversation on how local government can be a potential model for better practices in our U.S. government, foreign policy and more.
The Vermont Council on World Affairs will be joining the movement by hosting a silent auction at the Hotel Vermont. This event is free and open to the public, but in the spirit of Giving Tuesday we encourage you to make a donation to support the VCWA.
We look forward to seeing you there!
